Rantypants Wednesday.

Oooh — there’s nothing quite like getting your ranty pants on.

I’ve just written a glorious 1200 words for my thesis extolling the potential evils of accepting payment in exchange for blogging. My position on this has been well and truly documented here, so I won’t get in to it again, but let’s just say that I feel lighter after getting it all off my chest. I’m loving the fact that as a topic, payment-for-words is managing to fit in to my overall discussion of writing to know the self. Perhaps some strong research and further writing will help to clarify my position on the whole thing, and determine once and for all whether I’m just jealous because I don’t receive free stuff, or whether it’s just something that I really have no interest in.

Please not that I’m not saying that people who receive payment or freebies in exchange for blogging are a horrible bunch of hacks! People have got shirty about it in the past via email and you know – it sucks. This is just my opinion, and I’m free to give it because no one is monitoring what I say :P Jokes. Y’all are cool.

I have my chapter due in (oh my!) 13 days, and I’ve written about 3500 words… which, on the one hand, is super awesome. On the other hand, it’s only about one quarter of the words that I need, and I am rather stuffed. Hoping to get up to 5000 words today, and then go back through with references and further information and clear up my argument which, at the moment, is okay, but needs much work. It’s really incredibly hard writing the first chapter! I have nothing to refer to because the rest of the thesis hasn’t been argued yet, and the introduction is written last, so it’s kind of all “oh… and in chapter such and such I will talk about this [come back and confirm that this is what happens when you've actually written it!]“. Must remember to take those notes to myself out of my thesis before I finish it. I left a fair few in my honours thesis.

Lunch time, then back to work. What shall I eat?
